Q: Why is the ACS Omega APC increasing?
A: ACS Publications is a nonprofit society publisher committed to sustainable publishing—an effort we are continuously invest in so that we can build and enhance resources to provide high-quality editing, to execute a rigorous peer-review system, and to keep pace with the latest technology for sharing research globally. ACS Omega has grown rapidly over the past five years, and these necessary adjustments will provide our growing number of authors with the top-quality publishing experience they expect from the journal.

Q: How does this change affect me if I have submitted a manuscript to ACS Omega, am considering submitting to the journal, or have been offered a transfer from another ACS journal?

  • If you submitted your manuscript to ACS Omega before July 1, 2020, and it is accepted for publication, you will pay the $750 APC if you choose to publish it with ACS Omega.
  • If you were offered a transfer to ACS Omega from another ACS journal before July 1, 2020, you will pay the $750 APC, even if you accept the transfer and formally submit your manuscript to ACS Omega after July 1, 2020.
  • If you submitted your manuscript to ACS Omega before July 1, 2020, and your manuscript received a ‘Reject & Resubmit’ decision, you will pay the $750 AP, even if you resubmit after July 1, 2020.

Q: What if I live in one of the countries eligible for a country discount?
A: Country discounts will increase to offset the APC increase. As such, authors residing in those eligible countries will not experience any increase in the APC
