New Release of ACS Web Editions Platform on Saturday, July 10

On Saturday, July 10, ACS staff from WASH IT and Publications units will be deploying a substantial new release to the ACS Web Editions Platform. During this weekend’s transition the ACS Journals website will be placed in Read Only mode. Subscriber access to ACS Journals, ACS Books, C&EN Online, and the ACS Paragon Plus Environment will not be affected during this maintenance period, but some services such as galley proofing and single article/chapter purchase will not be available on Saturday, July 10 and possibly Sunday, July 11.

The deployment of the new release, also an adoption of Atypon’s latest 10.1 software release, introduces a number of important enhancements that will benefit all stakeholders — ACS member subscribers, institutional customers, authors, end-users, and ACS staff in Washington and Columbus offices that use and support the ACS Web Editions Platform day in and day out. Platform enhancements associated with this upgrade include:

  • Citing Articles Section Now Appearing on ACS Abstract and Supporting Information Pages
  • Tagging Improvements to Support Keyword Displays, Stacked Characters
  • Withdrawn Notices Added to TOC and Search Results Displays
  • Twitter Now a Recommend & Share Option
  • BibTeX Citation Format Now Supported for Journals and Books
  • Improved Login Experience for Duplicate Email Address Entry
  • Institutional COUNTER Report Improvements
  • Addition of Several New System-Generated Usage Reports:
  • Symposium Series and Advances in Chemistry Series (Top Users, Top Titles, Top Chapters, Access Denials, Search, Pay-Per-View)
  • Top Individuals (more knowledge on individual and ACS Member usage)
  • Usage by ACS Sales Regions
  • Date Ranges for Cover Years (aids in segmentation of Legacy Archive and Front File content)

An informational webpage containing highlights from the Release Notes, complete with screen shots, has been posted to the following ACS Publications webpage — Site-wide maintenance notices have also been posted to all templates across the ACS Web Editions Platform. That notice will be updated with new information as needed throughout the weekend.
